Carol & Calvin

They are the sweetest people you'll meet, so organized & they captured the best photos that we will cherish forever.
"... I highly recommend anyone to book these two for an engagement shoot, wedding, elopement or anything in between …"
A Dreamy Hycroft Manor Engagement Session
Hycroft Manor - Vancouver, BC
Not all engagement sessions are created equal. A one hour session on a busy trail with a couple who has never been in front of a professional camera before is a very different experience from what Carol and Calven chose to do. They gave us three hours. Two outfits. And full creative freedom inside one of Vancouver's most stunning heritage estates.
The result was something we are genuinely proud of.
Why Carol and Calven Chose a Three Hour Engagement Session
Carol and Calven are the kind of couple who thinks ahead. They had already booked us for their full wedding day at Hycroft Manor, and rather than doing a quick one hour shoot to tick the engagement session box, they decided to go all in.
Three hours gave us something that is genuinely rare in this industry: time. Time to explore the property. Time to try things that might not work and then find the things that absolutely do. Time to let Carol and Calven settle into being in front of the camera before we pushed for the shots we really wanted.

TWO OUTFITS
Where Style BECOMES Story
The decision to bring two outfits was one of our favourite parts of this session. Carol and Calven arrived in their first look and we worked through the more classic, elegant version of their story together. Then midway through the session we did a wardrobe change and the whole energy shifted.

The Key to Natural Engagement Photos
The WARMUP Period Nobody Talks About
Here is something we are honest with all our couples about. The first thirty to forty five minutes of any shoot are rarely the best photos of the day. That is not a flaw in the process, it is the process. People need time to stop performing for the camera and start forgetting it is there.
With a one hour session, you spend half of it in warm up mode and the other half just hitting your stride before it is over.
With three hours, the warm up is built in. By the time we were deep into the session with Carol and Calven, the stiffness had completely melted away. They were laughing, they were moving naturally, they were genuinely present with each other rather than thinking about where to put their hands. That is when the magic happens. That is when you get the photos that actually look like the two of you.

A Quiet rehearsel for the real day
Why an Engagement Session Before Your Wedding Matters?
We genuinely believe that every couple who books us for their wedding should also do an engagement session, and not just because the photos are beautiful. The session is a rehearsal. It is a chance for you to experience what it feels like to be photographed by us before the highest stakes day of your year. It is a chance for us to learn what makes you look your best, what directions you move naturally in, and how to get the most authentic version of you both into the frame.
By the time we arrived on Carol and Calven's wedding day, we were not strangers. We were people who had already spent three hours together laughing on the grounds of Hycroft Manor. That relationship shows in the wedding photos. It always does.
